Snow, milk and honey

I've been looking at the snow falling so restlessly down.. Luckily, I am staying home today, so I dont have to mess around the even messier streets.. But the weather like this switches me into some totally different mood.. the winter mood.. Even though I am a full time spring child, and there is nothing that brings more happiness to me like the Sun does, I too have to admit that winter has a certain charm as well. One of them being exactly this one- cuddling up in a warm blanket, playing some heartbreaking movie or some soft, jazzy music.. and sipping something warm and delicious..

My choice for the warm and delicious is definitely milk and honey. The twist to this drink I tried last year, adding various spices into the milk before cooking it.. And after many tests, I decided on my two favorite spices, which make this winter time and winter drink really special and "correct".

For the cup of my version of milk and honey, you will need:

2,5dcl milk
1-2 tsp honey
1 tsp cinnamon
a pinch of nutmeg

My dad would say here- do not change  something that is already good (milk+honey). Dad is a beekeeper and produces our homemade honey, so he is not big on devaluating honey with adding spices to it. But I must admit these two spices add something fine to this warm, delicious drink, something to make it a true winter specialty. Cinnamon is a match made in heaven to go along milk.. And a nutmeg adds a bit of spiciness to it, which balances out the sweet honey.

So, just put milk into heating, along with cinnamon and nutmeg. After it boils, put it to lower heat and keep cooking for an additional minute.

Inside your cup- add the honey and pour over a few spoons of your cooked milk, so much that you can melt the honey in it.

After you have melted the honey with the liquid, add the rest of the milk. It is onto you if you want to drain the milk from the spices before you use it or not.
After adding all the milk into the cup, sprinkle it with some cinnamon or cocoa powder.. and rush under that blanket of yours.

So, there you go.. We have not too much of this winter season left to enjoy.. so dont be a Grinch! Sweeten it all up and have fun!
