In my previous post, I have said how I give up all the cake baking for a month (the number is still two-digit and far away from counting it till the end).. So publishing this post doesn't mean I broke my promise.. just that I`ve found a "hole in the law".. the last nights dinner I made you wouldn't really put in the cake section.. even though it is sweet..
Ever since i returned from Belgium 2 years ago, I have been going on to everybody about my wish to open up the first Waffle house in Zagreb.
In the mean time, the first one did open.. unfortunately, not mine! But the waffles I tried there have not been even measurable to the real Belgian ones.. not even close.. The ones I tried here were way too sweet and heavy (and if someone is reading this- please do something about it, it was hardly edible!)
I feel like I don't even need to mention that after returning from Belgium, I had immediately bought a waffle baker. But as it happens often in a cake-baking house like ours, the waffle turn comes very rarely in order.
So, the initiative to making this belgian snack as a dinner has been my recent trip to Vienna, Austria, where we enjoyed some mind-blowingly good waffles. And since then, we have all been hyped about making them happen again.
Judging by the photo above, its obvious you can eat waffles with whatever your heard desires- cream, pudding, fruit, caster sugar, chocolate. And should I even mention there are so many various types of waffles to choose from, from the soft (American waffles), tick syrupy ones (stroop waffles, Brussels waffles), all the way till the crispy ones (Antwerp).
And my last nights dinner (american style) waffles have been served with - Nutella and cream. Let me break it down to you like this:
And I would only hope to see one of them left in the kitchen still in the morning, for me to heat them up in the microwave.. But..
I should be so lucky..
I guess we will have to re-do them some time soon!
